If You're Going to San Francisco...

Both yesterday and today have also been really great days.

Sunday:

I went to the temple (rode with Katia and we picked up Rinpoche and his cousin, Palgyi).  The meditation was wonderful and Rinpoche's teaching was really great.  He said his mantra is "Wake up," which made me smile because of my blog's title, hehe.

Afterwards Rinpoche, Katia and I went to this small beach in Point Richmond (near the temple)- it was the first time I'd been that close to the Bay.  The sun was out- it was really beautiful.

When I got home I played "tennis" with Joe and his friend, Joy (Thailand) and our neighbor's 9 year old kid, Tyvon.  He's a really cool kid and we went across the street to the park to play.  I didn't even know we had tennis courts, along with basketball and soccer- it just keeps getting better!

Ngawang and I started making a wood pile (he split it, I carried) and we want to make a veggie garden!  Then after dinner he and I watched 2 Tibetan movies that I'd bought in New Delhi.  One was really good, it's called "Dreaming Lhasa."  It's about an American-born Tibetan girl that goes to India to make a documentary about Tibetan refugees...I loved it and so did Ngawang.

Monday:

Today I went to look at a bike from a guy on Craiglist- I love it!  I'm going to pick it up tomorrow!  Yay!

Then, I went into San Francisco for the first time.  It's awesome!  I met up with an old friend from DC named, Marco.  We had a great Indian lunch, window shopped for shoes (which we both love) and then walked all the way down through the financial district to the Embarcadero, then Fisherman's Wharf, next to the Bay.  It's so amazing along the water.  You could really see the East Bay land (Berkeley, Oakland, etc...) from there- it was sunny today!  We took an old, restored train car back up to the Embarcadero and parted ways.  I came home to a lovely dinner with Joe, Joy and their 2 friends.  I'm just now getting back to my room after a full day (it's 11:30pm).

I feel so grateful to have such friendly, engaging & inclusive roommates.

Life is so very full.
