Tuesday Morning

I'm all set for Dharmasala. I borrowed a trekker's backpack (bigger than my day pack, but smaller than my suitcase) from Michael & Linda. I think we've adopted each other- their oldest daughter is about my age. :) They need help planning their English class and I've needed misc. things, so I think neither party feels put out in any way.
A Japanese woman I met at Deer Park last week, Momoko, helped me find a room...a true blessing because everything is booked when HH Dalai Lama is teaching. I will actually be sharing a room with her friend in a nunnery (no, I'm not going to join while I'm there!) It's WAY cheaper than I was planning for, so that's a bonus! I'm going to wake up and take the early bus from Bir, so I'm feeling quite thrifty.
I've also developed a relationship with the dogs at Deer Park, esp. Kalu- the cute, but dumb one. There are 4 in total: Kalu, Bubi (the biggest beggar at meals), Goofy (the most vocal) and an older guy...can't remember his name. They sometimes steal shoes outside of the temple and chase each other (and bark!!), but they're so sweet and it's great to have little friends at my new "home."

I'm glad to hear you've made some canine friends--no language barrier there. And I'm always glad to find out about other cultures that treat dogs with respect (I'm assuming this is the case).

Molly, the canine "pwincess" of Clifton is a little jealous of your new four-legged "buds".

I am am MORE than a little jealous of your new Australian parents!

Thank you for the great communication and for sharing your adventure with us.

Glad to hear that the nunnery is only a temporary stay.

Big hugs to you and His Holiness,

We miss you, XOXOXO MOM
